‘Roti Canai, Satu!’ Order Results In Cop Being Stabbed

KUALA LUMPUR: A police constable was stabbed in the abdomen in a restaurant in Selayang at 5.30am today.

Gombak Police chief ACP Ali Ahmad said the 26-year-old policeman from the Bukit Aman Special Action Unit, was currently receiving treatment at the Selayang Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

He said police had detained and remanded two men, both aged 24, until Thursday to facilitate further investigation into the case.

“Initial investigation found that the incident began when the victim mistakenly thought that one of the suspects was a waiter and asked for a plate of roti canai.

“When the suspects left, one of them was said to have made an obscene gesture at the victim, prompting him to give chase and eventually get engaged in a fight, in which he ended up being stabbed,” Ali told Bernama.

He said both suspects sustained minor injuries due to the fight.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a sharp object.
