SUPP Will Continue To Work With BN Leadership


KUCHING: Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) will continue to work with the leadership of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government to obtain the support of the people, especially the Chinese community here. 

SUPP President Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui gave this assurance adding that the party will be strengthened in all 43 regions in the state with the formation of four new branches. 

"Give support to SUPP and we (SUPP) will work with you (BN) .. we hope that the Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Adenan Satem and the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will be fair to the SUPP," he said. 

He said this in his speech at the Opening Ceremony of the SUPP  Triennial Delegates Conference at Dewan Sa’ati, SUPP Headquarters, Jalan Ong Kee near the city here just now. 

Peter Chin gave assurance that there will be no contest for the  top four positions including the Party's President post that will be replaced by the present SUPP secretary-general Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.

"The Deputy President post will be maintained to the Minister of Human Resources Datuk Richard Riot Jaem whom is the one and only Bumiputera leader in the party."

"Two other important positions; secretary-general and treasurer will also not be contested as they would be appointed to SUPP chairman Piasau Branch Datuk Sebastian Ting and former Member of Parliament for Sarikei Ding Kuong Hiing.

The officating ceremony was officiated by Prime Minister and also BN Chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and attended by Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Adenan Haji Satem and other Sarawak BN component leaders. -Sarawakiana
