'Trim And Fit' Program To Tackle Obesity In Police Force

KUALA LUMPUR: The pioneer 'Trim and Fit' program launched in February is seen to be successful in addressing the problem of obesity among police personnel.

Federal Police Director of Management in Bukit Aman Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said 28 of the 35 participants of the pioneer program had so far succeeded in reducing their body weight.

The pioneer program launched by the Management Department would also be extended to all police personnel in 2017, he told Bernama after being a guest of the 'Program Dalam Radar' at Bernama Radio24, here.

The pioneer program, which ends in June, will gather all information from the officers and other ranks involved and to find a suitable solution before being applied to all police personnel.

Zulkifli said the program was also collaborated by the Health Department of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam in providing nutritional guidance and physical training.

"Previously, we did not carry out physical training in a proper manner, that's why the outcome is positive," he added.
