Free mobile clinic with TCM coming to Sarawak

KUCHING: Mobile clinic services offering free diagnosis and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are expected to be launched here come June 8.

Supported by the Herald Vision Foundation of Malaysia, the free mobile clinic services would be run by Sarawakians to lend a helping hand to particularly the low-income individuals who need medical attention and assistance.

Founder cum executive advisor to the foundation Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said such services had been running in Peninsular Malaysia in the last five years.

“This is already an on-going initiative. Initially it started off from my constituency, that is Pandan, at that point of time. Then it spread all over to areas that need our attention.

“The mobile clinic services here will be fully run by Sarawakians. There is no such thing as transplant, but we can share our experience,” he said when met by reporters at Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Petra Jaya here yesterday.

Earlier, Ong said his visit to the state “is more of a courtesy call in nature.”

“I’m here today not because of any political reason. I’ve got to say that loud and clear, that it has nothing to do with partisan politics. Whether local politics or Peninsular-based politics, it’s got nothing to do with my visit.

“Rather, I am here to inform the chief minister (Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem) of my NGO sponsoring mobile clinic services that will kick-start in early June.

“The services will be fully run by Sarawakians but with collaboration from me and also my colleagues from Peninsula. And this mobile clinic service would certainly need more help from all quarters in Sarawak because we wish to extend our scope of service to more areas.”

He added the services would eventually target the community, which needs more attention especially in health care.- theborneopost
