Woman allegedly raped after a night out

KUCHING: A night out at a pub with friends ended with a severely intoxicated woman being driven off and raped early yesterday morning.

The 28-year-old, originally from Serian, is said to have gone to a night spot at Mile 2 1/2 with a female friend, where she became severely intoxicated prior to the pair leaving around 4am.

Sources said upon exiting the premises, the woman headed to a drain by the side of the building alone to throw up, while her friend continued chatting with several other friends nearby.

When the friend turned around several minutes later, she realised the woman was no longer by the drain and went about the area looking for her without success.

A police report of her disappearance was subsequently made, prompting cops to search for the missing woman until around 6am when they finally found her at the parking lot of Taman Sri Sarawak commercial area in the city centre.

The woman, who was passed out at the time, was nude from the waist down and believed to have been raped, although it is unknown if she was sexually assaulted by more than one person.

The victim was then sent to the Sarawak General Hospital to undergo a medical checkup.
