KUCHING: State civil servants will be granted special leave on July 8 in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
According to a press statement from the Chief Minister’s Office today, the chief minister agreed that the state civil service will follow the decision of the federal government.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa yesterday announced that the government had agreed to grant special leave to federal civil servants on July 8 (Friday) if Hari Raya Aidilfitri fell on July 6.
If Aidilfitri falls on July 6, then July 6 and 7 will be the usual public holidays. July 8 will be the additional holiday, thus giving civil servants a stretch of five days off work including the July 9 and 10 weekend.
The special leave from work would not be applicable if the first day of Raya was declared to be on July 5 (Tuesday). - BP
