Lim Kit Siang Likened To A Ghost

KUALA LUMPUR: Shouts of ‘hantu’ (ghost) echoed throughout the Dewan Rakyat today due to the presence of suspended Gelang Patah member of parliament (MP) Lim Kit Siang.

It all began when Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (BN-Setiu) urged Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Mulia to order Lim out of Parliament pursuant to Rule 44 (5) of the Standing Order.

Zulkifly likened Lim’s presence during proceedings as uncouth and insulting to Parliament due to disregard of the latter’s six-month suspension beginning yesterday.

“Gelang Patah’s presence in the Dewan is nothing but uncouth behaviour and insulting to Dewan (Rakyat).

“Yesterday, Gelang Patah was suspended six months from proceedings, but when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was tabling the redelineation motion, Gelang Patah was in the Dewan.

“Gelang Patah’s action, in light of being a veteran and 69 years old, is uncouth and insulting to the Dewan.

“Thereby I rely on Rule 44 (5) to seek Speaker Tan Sri (Pandikar Amin Mulia) to order Gelang Patah to leave this honourable parliament,” he said.

In a humorous manner, Pandikar Amin calmly said that “I do not see Gelang Patah.”

Shouts and insults rained on the Dewan Rakyat when Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar tried to table the Fire and Rescue Service Bill (Amendment) 2018.

It happened when Lim suddenly stood up and asked Pandikar Amin whether he was suspended for a day or six months, disturbing Noh from proceeding with the tabling.

Noh retorted that in light of having been part of Dewan Rakyat for 23 years, he is likened Lim’s voice as a common occurrence there without the actual person (Lim) being seen.

Budiman Mohd Sohdi (BN-Sungai Besar) then interjected with “There is a voice of a ghost.”

“It may be a ghost. Because of that, he (Lim) does not understand manners,” replied Noh, who is also Tanjung Karang MP.

“If I get thrown out of parliament, I would abide and leave. This (Lim) still sit inside Dewan (Rakyat),” said Noh.-NST
