Civil Servants As The BackBone Of Goverment

Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem said all his important initiative and decisions plans need the support and commitment of civil servants serving in Sarawak whether from the State or Federal Agencies.

“Civil servant are the backbone and engine of government machinery and the make government work and to carry out and implement the important projects and programmes in Sarawak,”

“If you do not perform as expected, they can also cause the government to be dysfunctional, making its look somewhat ineffective and inefficient,”

“To the federal agencies, when you serve in Sarawak, it is your duty and responsibility to help and do your best for state so I urge all of you to do your best,”

He said to all 7500 civil servants of the State and Federal government at the launch of the Sarawak Civil Service Day 2015 at the Borneo Convention Centre today.

This year’s theme of Leadership Taking Charge : Make a Difference, he said this is a very fitting theme in context of civil service about getting things done by ‘Just Do It’ instead of talking without taking action.

“A leader take charger. He can delegate or empower certain matter to his subordinates but if the leader does not take charge is like a rudderless ship that gets lost in the sea because of the lack of direction by the captain,”

According to him, the way forward is not easy but nothing impossible if we all work hard as team.

"With the co-operation of all of you, I am optimistic that the future of Sarawak will be in good hands, that help in the betterment of the rakyat,"
