MIRI: After Limbang and Lawas, the floods have now hit Bintulu, forcing 230 people to be evacuated to the Bintulu community hall as at 5 am today.
Bintulu Department of Civil Defence officer Second Lieutenant Zuriza Sharkawi said the evacuees were from the Sungai Sebatang squatter area and Batu 5 Sungai Sebiew.
“The Social Welfare Department has provided aid to the victims,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Rain since yesterday had caused floods in several areas of Bintulu, including flash floods in housing estates. -BERNAMA
