NBES 3: Exposing The Reality Of Current Economic Issues

KUCHING: Business entrepreneurs  and interested members of the public are invited to participate in the National Business Economic Seminar (NBES 3) 2015 organised by Persatuan Alumni UiTM Sarawak (MITSA) and UiTM Sarawak.

Assistant Minister of Land Development and also MITSA Chairman Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz said that, NBS 3 offers a one-day seminar which will be panelled by prominent individuals in the economic sector.

"The NBES 3 is is aimed not only at providing a platform for networking for Bumiputera entrepreneurship ventures between SMEs, taking advantage of available government initiatives."

"The participants would be exposed to the need to understand the reality of the current economic issues and outlook as well as untapped opportunities available within the ASEAN economic community," he added.

He said that existing and potentiol entrepreneurs, government officers, policy makers, academicians, and students would benefits from this seminar.

Wahab said this to reporters during the press conference on NBES 3 held at his office at Bangunan Baitulmakmur (MASJA), Petra Jaya near here earlier today.

"Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan Haji Satem was initially scheduled to deliver the keynote address entitled "Enhancing Economy through Active Bumiputera Participation in SMEs" however, due to some unavoidable circumstance, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu will represent him."

Among the speakers at the seminar are Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz is an icon in Malaysia trade and industry, having been the longest-serving Minister of International Trade and Industry (1987-2008). Currently she is a Non-Executive Independent Chairman at AirAsia X and she will deliver a talk on "Asean Economic Community (AEC):Opportunities for SME".

Another speaker will be Dr Zakariah Abdul Rashid, a lecturer at a local university for more than 20 years before he retired in 2009. He is actively involved in research and currently holding the position of Executive Director at the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER). (Outlook on Malaysian Economic)

Professor Dr. Razmi Chik, who is currently the Assistant Vice Chancellor (Entrepreneurship) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and is actively involved in promoting entrepreneurial education at the university will be talking on "Holistic, Entrepreneurial, Balanced Graduates".

While Norliza Mohamad Nawi, the Senior General Manager of PETRONAS Group Supply Chain and has 25 years of diverse experience encompassing lead roles in corporate risk management, business development and planning, and commersial operations of PETRONAS, including the management of vendor development programs will be speaking on "Opportunities in Oil and Gas Industry for Contractors".

Wahab disclosed that more than 160 participants had confirmed their attandance however, they expect a crowd of more than 200 people.

"For a fee of RM450 per person is considered cheap if compared should one participates the same seminar which are ussually held in West Malaysia.. as now it is literally just at your door step, minus the air-trip fees and accommidation," he added.
