SIBU: Quick action by Region Five Marine Police saved a Vietnamese woman from drowning in what appeared to be a suicide attempt yesterday.
In the 2.45pm incident , the 26-year-old masseuse is believed to have jumped into the Rajang River near the Tua Pek Kong Temple here.
An eyewitness said she saw the woman climb the concrete fence before she jumped into the river. The eyewitness claimed that the woman looked depressed.
Police later found the woman hiding under the jetty.
They finally managed to coax her to come out of the water around 4pm.
She was later taken to Sibu Hospital in a Civil Defence Department ambulance.-BP
