Sarawak Managed To Attract The Second Highest Investment In Malaysia - Awang Tengah

KUCHING: From January up to September 2015, Sarawak has managed to attract the second highest investment in Malaysia, which is 18 projects totaling RM11.8 billion after Johor total RM30 billion.

Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment, Minister of Public Utilities and Minister of Industrial Development Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said the State Industrial Coordination Committee (ICC) has also approved 29 projects totaling RM142.4 million from January to September 2015.

“Our ability to attract investment is only made possible through political stability and efficient government where investor have confidence in our top leadership as well as our ability to provide the necessary infrastructure and support services,

“Re-fining is an eco friendly operation that uses of the art Green Technology,” Awang told during speech on MOU Signing Ceremony Between Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd and Stone Petroleum (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

He added the technology helps transform used and sub standard oil into high quality base oil that will be used for producing valuable semi finished and finished industrial products including among others lubrication oil, solvent of aromatic, wax and bitumen.

The project will also promote environmental awareness that used oil is a valuable resource and not a waste product, and thus stimulates the commitment to manage used oil appropriately. This is in line with the growing global trend towards optimization and efficient waste management.

“The investment is estimated to cost about RM300 million and will be developed in three phases. The proposed development is the first of its kind in the State to be developed on an area of approximately 30 acres of land at Senari Synergy Industrial Complex,

“The investment is expected to generate approximately 350 employment opportunities, “ he said.
Awang said the proposed project will be undertaken in collaboration with the technical partners from China that will provide both the technological and operational expertise. The partners are the Shandong Zongtian, Shandong Shenxing Chemical Co. Ltd and Hebel Shenghao Chemical Machinery Co. " he said.

“I hope that with the setting up of this plant, the business community and public at large will not simply discharge their used oils into our drains and rivers as there will be a ready market for these wastes for re-refinery purposes. Its is very difficult to rehabilitate our river systems once they are polluted by these used oils,” he said. -Sarawakiana
