KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak is hanging on to their claim that the manner that PKR Julau branch got its 13,000 members in one day from only 603 members the day before in June in the run up to its party central leadership election, was dubious.

Its secretary Nicholas Bawin and information chief Vernon Kedit now want the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) to look into the allegation, as they could not depend on PKR central secretariat to settle the problem.

With PKR Julau parliamentary service centre under the helm of Julau MP Larry Sng lodging police report against Vernon and media that posted his (Vernon) claim of the dubious PKR Julau membership status, Bawin and Vernon said they are compelled to lodge their complaints to the MACC.

Larry, as far as PKR Sarawak leaders are concerned, is the ‘New Kid on the Block’. Larry joined PKR few weeks after he won the Julau parliamentary seat in the May 9 general election on the independent ticket.

According to Bawin today (Oct 25): “Our party’s Secretary General issued a statement which was reported in the press yesterday that all membership lists have been finalised and our complaints had exceeded the period of objections.”

“We are left with no choice but to bring this matter to MACC as the irregularities and illegalities which we have been raising within party channels have been ignored,” said Bawin.

Vernon then said PKR Sarawak would like to request for the MACC to conduct a thorough and exhaustive investigation into these grave matters to ascertain if there were any abuses of power or misuses of power by certain party leaders in covering up the irregularities and illegalities stated in their (PKR Sarawak) Statutory Declaration (SD) – the one that provided evidence on the alleged irregularities and illegalities.

He said report to the MACC is necessary as party’s image and credibility has now come under public scrutiny.

Bawin and PKR Julau branch chairman candidate Semana Sawang submitted to party central secretariat, their complaints or objections against PKR Julau membership status within time in the run up to the party central leadership coming election but Vernon was not in time in submitting the SD meant to substantiate Bawin and Semana’s allegation against Larry and his faction. - The Borneo Post
